Sighting include mainly Southern Right Whales, however Humpback Whales, Bryde’s Whales, Dolphins and Penguins are also seen quite frequently. Additional sightings include a variety of marine birds as well as the endangered African Penguin. Our custom and purpose built catamaran ensures the ultimate comfort and stability to guests and the numerous viewing platforms allows offer spectacular viewing opportunities for all guests. Whale season is between June and December when the Southern Right Whales migrate to warmer waters to breed and calve. Trips last between 1h30 minutes and 3h00 and depends on the traveling time to the whales. Trips depart daily at 09h00, 12h00 and 15h00 from Hermanus, known as the whale capital of the world. Southern Right Charters are permitted up to 50 feet from the whales. It is not uncommon for these curious creatures to swim right up to the boat. The boat, Dream Catcher, is the first boat in South Africa to be designed specifically for whale watching. It is extremely comfortable and spacious, with on board toilets, an observation deck for photography enthusiasts, PA system and even a hydrophone! Dream Catcher is 14m long and complies with all the safety regulations set out by the marine authorities. Once you have arrived at The Great White House, you will receive a brief introductory talk about the route, safety, and what to look out for. Passengers are fitted with comfortable life-jackets and waterproof jackets. Safety is of the utmost importance. Whale Watching Trip length is between 2 and 2.5 hours, depending on sightings and weather conditions. All cruises depart from Kleinbaai harbour near Gansbaai. Dyer Island is located 8 km from shore and is an access controlled Important Bird Area (IBA) for the conservation of its many resident bird species, including African penguins. Adjacent to Dyer Island is Geyser Rock, home to a 60,000 strong Cape fur seal colony. These seals are present all year round. We will take you into the channel of water between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock known as the world famous ‘Shark Alley’. We will then take you to the whale hot-spots in the bay. With over a decade of experience, not only do we know where to expect the best whale viewings, but the whales have also learned where to expect us! We pride ourselves on being both fun and educational. Each trip is led by experienced marine biologists and guides who will share their knowledge with you, keeping emphasis on the welfare and conservation of the animal. Responsible tourism is our main objective so we focus on conservation, education, community upliftment and safety. The boat is surveyed annually by the SA Maritime Safety Authority, conforms to its specifications and is licensed and fully insured for 50 passengers and 6 crew. Safety equipment includes first aid kit, radio and cellular phone. All clients have to sign an indemnity form on arrival before they can ride, no sign no ride. Ceres Rail Company offers a magnificent return trip to the Elgin Railway Market aboard our historic passenger train. Our train is usually hauled by a heritage steam locomotive and a diesel, but at times, due to the fire risk and other events beyond our control, the trip may be hauled by two diesel locomotives. The journey begins at 08h05 (passengers to arrive between 07h00 and 07h30) from the platform at Harbour Bridge Hotel and Suites, Dockrail Road, Foreshore, Cape Town. Once aboard you will enjoy a 3-hour rail experience to Elgin, traveling through the beautiful Cape, up the majestic Sir Lowrys Pass, and then down into the Elgin Valley. We have a fully licensed cash bar on board as well as a dining car providing coffee and other snacks. Various books and memorabilia are also available for purchase onboard. We also have a card machine to make life easier. Our destination is the fabulous Art Deco & Art Nouveau inspired Elgin Railway Market (www.elginrailwaymarket.co.za) where you will spend a few hours at your leisure. At the market, whilst enjoying the live music, you can wander through the many stalls offering delicious food, a wide selection of local wines, ciders and gin. The Caledon Quad Biking trail starts from our base at the Caledon Hotel and Spa. Our office and workshop is conveniently a few meters from reception of the hotel. The trail will take you through a beautiful forest with large indigenous Oak trees an then into a small confined forest with srubs and trees surrounding you as you move through a tunnel of fauna before you hit an open track section. The open track runs in between farm lands and also along a railway line from where you can view the Swartberg Mountains. The trail has two small water crossings and they are easy and fun to do. We also drive on the river bank of small river as it snakes along our trail. The trail is very versatile in its scenery, trail and allows riders to enjoy the outdoors on a quad bike. No previous experience required. Starting from the Grootbos Nature Reserve, which has an award-winning lodge and is famous as a botanical hot-spot, the trail runs west through the coastal shrubland and traverses the vast magical, almost surreal, sand drifts (Grys Dune) of die Plaat. Ride along perfect white beaches of the Walker Bay Conservancy and whale sanctuary which is arguably the best land-based area in the world to watch whales (whale watching capital of the world from June to December – whales and their calves often come within meters of the coastline). Admire these magnificent creatures and their "aquabatic" displays, splashing, crashing and blowing, breaching, lobtailing, spy-hopping and sailing close to shore. Enjoy the sandy beaches and experience the thrill of beach canters. Just before De Kelders the coastline gets rougher with rocky beaches and limestone cliffs which flatten out onto sandy stretches of die Plaat. The coastal landscape will give way to mountain fynbos when we hit the slopes of the coastal hills to return to Grootbos.

The slides start high in the mountain, over 1,000m above sea-level. After a short walk in, and another safety briefing on the first platform, get ready to earn your wings and fly platform to platform. Once you have completed the 11 slides, 13 platforms and a suspension bridge you will start the 1km walk out the gorge, where the vehicle will be waiting to take you back down to base camp. Total tour duration 4-5hrs.
