Pipe Track Hiking Route

Our walk starts at the base of Table Mountain and winds its way up and onto the historic Pipe Track. Very quickly hikers will be afforded amazing views of Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean spread out in its vastness to the right. To the left will be both the flat plateau of Table Mountain itself and the undulating 12 Apostles showing off along the way. The trail runs parallel to the celebrated pipes that give this route its name and your guide will explain the significance of these to you in detail. The flowers are blooming in abundance at this time of year and there will be the chance to learn all about these and the many animals that inhabit Table Mountain from your expert guide. After 30 minutes of walking there will be the opportunity to relax in a lovely, shaded area as you take in the natural beauty around you. The walk in total will take about 1:30 hours and, once at the end, we’ll end by watching the sunset on a massive, semi-secret rock boulder that overlooks the ocean. From here it is a short trickle down to the road and a quick Uber ride back to your vehicles. Transport is complementary to the first 4 pax booked (subject to availiablity).

Platteklip gorge is the easiest and quickest way up table mountain with a rock staircase all the way. Quickly gaining elevation you will have amazing city views and a chance to learn more about our rich city culture. get a real feel of table mountain and the people who love to hike on it. Quick route description Platteklip gorge follows a well-constructed pat hall the way and is the easiest most direct route up Table Mountain. The hike will start about a kilometer past the lower cable station. from here we'll quickly gain elevation until we join the contour path a quick walk to the left brings us to the start of the path. At first, the route follows up to the left side of the gorge, then into the gorge itself higher up. at the final section, we'll walk through a point where the gorge narrows down considerably a high point of the hike. from here we'll either turn right to the highest point of table mountain or left to the cable station. Difficulty: easy Hike Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours Distance: About 2.5 km / 1.6 miles Platteklip Gorge Elevation Gain: 680 meters / 2230 feet

This is the oldest, quickest and most direct route up Table Mountain. It is ideal if you are short on time and want to conquer Table Mountain as quickly as you can! The route follows a series of rocky steps up a steep gorge until you reach the top, 1087m later. Along the way you will learn a lot from your expert guide on the flora, fauna and history of Table Mountain as well as some interesting anecdotal stories. Once at the top, there will be the chance to take an extended break and simply absorb all of the amazing surroundings. Having taken any and all desired pictures, you will slowly make your way to the cable car station having ascended one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The hike starts at the lower cable car station and begins with a sharp ascent for the first 30 minutes. Things become more forgiving as the trail winds its way along single track and over small boulders, up the mountain. Soon India Venster hikers will come across the famous ‘Window’ (Venster in Afrikaans); an iconic picture opportunity with a massive boulder hanging threateningly above your head. Two thirds of the way up the mountain, hikers will be met by the famous ‘staples & chains’; this is a short series of climbing aids that will assist you in ascending some steep rock faces. This is not climbing but requires a good head for heights. The route then curves around the side of Table Mountain and opens up beautifully to views of the 12 Apostles and Camps Bay. It is then a relatively short and flat walk to top out on Table Mountain’s summit. Once on the summit, there will be the chance to take an extended break at a semi-secret location and simply absorb all of the amazing surroundings. Having taken any and all desired pictures, you will slowly make your way to the cable car station having ascended one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Arguably one of the most beautiful hikes up table mountain is the skeleton gorge route. Starting off in Kirstenbosch gardens with its rich collection of fynbos. Following up on a densely wooded kloof with exciting ladders next to waterfalls we will reach the white sandy beaches of Table mountain. This is the perfect route for a hot day in cape town allowing for a different perspective of table mountain. Quick route description Our hike will start in the beautiful Kirstenbosch gardens. from here we will hike up to the contour path via smuts track until the official start of the route. following the stepped path up the densely wooded gorge keeping to the left of the watercourse until we reach A STEEP SECTION WELL EQUIPED WITH LADDERS TO EASILY CLIMB OVER THE POLISHED ROCK. AFTER THIS THE ROUTE FOLLOWS THE ROCKY STREAM BED FOR A SHORT DISTANCE, BEFORE BEARING OUT TO THE RIGHT TO ZIG-ZAG UP THE SLOPE. HIGHER UP THE PATH CROSSES THE GORGE AGAIN TO TAKE THE LEFT SIDE TO THE TOP WHERE MOUNTAIN MEETS SANDY WHITE BEACH.
