Day Plan For a Full Day Kruger Safari with Wild Planet. One of our fantastic guides will pick you up from your accommodation in Hoedspruit between 5 and 5:30 in the morning. We may have a few pick ups before we get to your lodge and will relay the ETA with you. Once we have all guests in the vehicle we will leave Hoedspruit and drive 60km to Orpen Gate. We will then check in and the guide will pay all the entrance fees before we can enter Kruger. Once we have finished with the formalities at reception we will be free to explore Kruger for the Day. The Area that we will be exploring is predominantly Savanah Grassland Biome spotted with Knob thorn acacias and Marula Trees. It is prime area for the grazing animals of Kruger National Park and is home to thousands of Zebras, Wildebeest, Impalas and a variety of other grass eating herbivores. This high number of prey species attracts a large number of Predators and the density of lions is very high in this area. We will also have excellent opportunities to spot other predators such as Wild Dog, Cheetah, Leopard and Hyena. We will spend the first part of the day exploring the area between the gate and Satara Rest camp and we will stop at a picnic site for guests to enjoy their packed breakfasts. Please note that there is no shop at the picnic site. After the short stop for breakfast we will continue East towards Satara, enjoying all the magnificent wildlife sightings along the way. We will then stop at Satara Camp for an own expense lunch at the camp restaurant. After lunch we will continue Eastwards towards Mozambique before turning round and heading back to the gate in the West. We should get to the gate around 4pm and then we will have an hours drive back to Hoedspruit.

At the base of the striking Klein Drakensberg is Hoedspruit, home to this exciting 1 hour microlight flight experience. This one-hour microlight flight travels over Big Five game reserves and gives you a view of the magnificent Limpopo landscape in an area favoured for its superb weather all year round. So board the microlight flight and enjoy the jam-packed hour trip. The braver microlight flight travelers can even get some hands-on experience. With a bird’s-eye view of the plains and wild animals that inhabit it, this microlight flight is an unrivaled wildlife experience. It normally includes flying over the Big Five game farms in the area towards the Olifants River and following the Olifants River for a short while before returning for further game viewing over Big 5 game reserves in the area. Good chances of seeing 3 of the Big 5 but the illusive leopard and lion are difficult to find. Game to see could include buffalo, lion (occasionally), elephant, rhino, hippo and plains game such as wildebeest, giraffe, warthogs, zebra and impala. You have the option to sit and experience the flight and view the game or you can have hands on experience from the first flight should you so wish. The choice is yours.

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is focused on the rehabilitation and care of rare species. The centre is a privately run operation and gives guests an educational experience about rare species. Guests will also be educated on the realities facing these creatures. This is a fantastic experience for those wanting to learn more about species that are under threat. Guests will be collected at the set departure time and travel directly to the Centre. Once the tour is completed, guests will be returned to the same collection point.

Guests will be met by their professional guide and open safari vehicle at a designated collection point. (If guests would like to be collected directly from their accommodation, they are requested to discuss this option with the Matumi Team prior to the safari) The vehicle will then depart for the Kruger National Park and the adventure begins! This is a full day excursion (The Kruger Park Full Day Safari will have an estimated duration of 10.5 to 11 hours) and so there will be multiple stops throughout the day for refreshments and for guests to have a break from sitting in the vehicle. Being in an open safari vehicle gives guests the opportunity to view many animals, including the Big 5, up close. Guests will be taken to a main rest camp at lunchtime where they have access to all the camp facilities and can purchase food and beverages. Once the safari has concluded, guests will be taken back to the original designated collection point.

One of the best ways to experience the Kruger National Park is to do a multiple day safari inside the park. This gives guests the full experience of Kruger’s magnificence and vastness. The Kruger National Park has some of the best infrastructure of any national park in the world. The main rest camps have shopping facilities and restaurants with a wide variety of items to choose from. This makes self-catering very easy for guests. Over and above this, the overnight accommodation facilities inside Kruger Park all offer private cooking and fridge facilities if one prefers making their own meals, instead of making use of the great restaurants. The Kruger Park 3 Night Safari allows guests to spend multiple days with a professional and accredited guide, whilst travelling in a well-equipped open safari vehicle. Moholoholo is a rehabilitation centre, established for the care of wildlife. Many of the animals at Moholoholo have either been injured, abandoned, or poisoned and require professional care. While some animals can be rehabilitated and released into the wild, there are some that cannot and so Moholoholo also offers a permanent home for these creatures. Institutions like Moholoholo give wildlife a second chance and give visitors a unique perspective on the challenges these animals face in today’s world. Moholoholo strives to educate visitors about conservation, and it is an experience that will be remembered forever. Guests will be collected at the set departure time and travel directly to the centre. Once the tour is completed, guests will be returned to the same collection point.
