Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive: • Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai • You will receive breakfast or lunch and register your wetsuit size • Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks • We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin • Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10 minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are) • On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as number of divers • Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley • Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House and a celebratory beverage to toast the occasion! Our Shark Cage Diving trips take place from the Kleinbaai harbour in the fishing town Gansbaai. Gansbaai is about 160 km from Cape Town and it takes about 2 hours 30 min by road. Although Gansbaai is known as the White Shark Capital of the World, the most common shark seen on our trip is the Bronze Whaler Shark – also known as the Copper Shark (Carcharhinus brachyurus) Of course one also have good chance to see a White Shark as Gansbaai is indeed one of the best places in the world to see the White Sharks It is important to note that our times of operation depend on tides, weather and sea conditions, so the timing arrangements can change.

Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai with Shark Lady Our vessel is a 12 metre long and 4 metre wide catamaran which we specifically designed for shark cage diving and viewing. The high season starts around mid February with our best months being March through to September. The cage is a floating, drifting cage. Four divers enter the cage at any one time. A fifth person can be accommodated, however, we prefer to allow the diver comfortable space to move freely. Scuba is available on request and is only given to qualified divers. Our tours depart twice daily off-season (May-October), and up to three times daily in-season (November-April). The duration of the trip will be approximately 3,5 hours on sea. Returning transfers from Cape Town and surrounds can be arranged for an additional amount of R650.00 per person What to bring : warm jacket, sun glasses, peaked cap, towel, costume, sun block, comfortable shoes, a change of clothing & cameras (we do stock disposable underwater cameras at reasonable prices). Should you be prone to sea sickness then we recommend that you speak to a pharmacist who can prescribe Sea Sick tablets, which are usually taken 2 hours before the tour. No diving gear necessary except prescription masks if necessary. We are the passionate pioneers in the industry and stand out miles from our competitors. We offer a full educational on the Great White so that you come away learning about this awesome, apex predator. We do not harm or feed the sharks on our tours. How it begins: We collect you from Cape Town or Hermanus and take you on a scenic drive to ‘White Shark Lodge’, our home base in Kleinbaai, to enjoy a delicious continental breakfast and discuss current sightings, indemnities, wetsuits and equipment before heading off to board our custom built 36 ft, 4 tonne white shark dive catamaran – ‘Shark Team’. We limit her to 20 passenger capacity plus 5 crew to ensure your comfort and viewing pleasure throughout your adventure experience. You get to meet one of our intrepid skippers, a qualified paramedic, a Dive Master and our friendly crew and enjoy a short talk on shark anatomy and behaviour. We explain how White Shark Projects works with the sharks in the area and how you will spend the next couple of hours diving and viewing these wondrous predators in their natural habitat. As the day unfolds: You are fully briefed on all procedures and the action begins as our crew ‘chums’ the cruise area and you wait with bated breath for your initial glimpse of the first shark fin. Sharks are usually wary at first and we wait a while for them to settle and then lower the diving cage. Our first guests enter the cage (takes 4 – 5 people) and spend about 20 minutes face to face with the sharks! We will work with individual sharks and you can enjoy topside viewing during your wait as shark activity is often close to the surface. In fact, Great Whites are also known for their ‘spy hopping’ – breaching right out of the water in pursuit of prey! Topside viewing can yield a lot of those action shots !
