Storms River Kayak and Lilo

(16 Reviews)
Untouched Adventures
Activity Type: Marine & Water Tours Location: Stormsriver Village, Western Cape

"Our favourite, the ultimate Tsitsikamma Adventure!" The 2 hour Storms River Kayak & Lilo Adventure is by far one of the most popular adventure activities in Tsitsikamma National Park! If you are keen to explore deeper into the Storms River Gorge in Tsitsikamma, and experience the long, deep, quiet pools, then the Kayak and Lilo trip is for you! We paddle from the Harbour next to the small beach across the ocean, then under the Suspension Bridge and up the beautiful Storms River Mouth. Please note that if the sea is rough, you have to hike to the Suspension Bridge (along a board walked trail), where we then hike along the river from the suspension bridge up to the jetty to where you then get on onto your kayaks. This 80m hike is over rocks and difficult terrain. Next, you will PADDLE UP THE STORMS RIVER MOUTH This is where the true Kayaking adventure begins - paddling the Storms River, the pinnacle of Tsitsikamma National Park. After waving to all the tourists photographing you from the Suspension Bridge, we continue the kayak trip up the Stormsrivier. We paddle right into the bats cave and spend time gazing up at the magnificent and spectacular cliffs all around us, all from the comfort of our double sit-on-top kayaks. Next up, you will get unto our customed made Lilo’s and LILO DEEPER UP THE STORMS RIVER GORGE At the low-water point we disembark our kayaks and we jump on our unique Lilo's. (a Lilo is an inflatable mattress that we’ve had specially made for this trip). From here we walk and float over a short section of rocks and simply wade deeper up the river on the Lilo's. What a stunning view it is, laying on a Lilo at water level, and gazing up to cliffs that touch the sky! At reaching a certain point, we simply turn our Lilo’s around and float back down river to our Kayaks! CLIFF JUMPING For the young, brave and adventurous (and the young, brave and adventurous at heart!) we take the opportunity up Storms River to leap off overhangs in the cliff walls into deep pools in the gorge. The cliff jumping adds a good dose of adrenaline for your trip back, as well as some good laughs, friendly encouragement and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities to brag to all your buddies when you get home. Cliff Jumping is not compulsory - you can simply enjoy the spectacle as you leisurely float in the long pools below. We've had kids as young as 6 and grandparents (as old as grandparents!) take the leap and enjoy the Lilo-ing, so we can truly say that this activity can be enjoyed by the whole family! The Lilo trip is our most popular and most recommended trip by local and international tourists, so be sure not to miss out on this unique adventure! Discover a new adventure activitiy in Storms River and experience nature and adventure at its best! ACTIVITY BREAKDOWN When the ocean is safe to kayak over the trip will involve in total: 10 minutes briefing, 20-30 minutes of ocean kayaking, 30-40 minutes of river kayaking, 40 minutes on Lilo and +/- 20 minutes Cliff Jumping, swimming and some time in between of just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view. If the ocean is unsafe to kayak over, the trip will involve in total: +/- 40 minutes of hiking through the forest, 10 minutes of briefing, 30-40 minutes of river kayaking, 40 minutes on Lilo and +/- 20 minutes Cliff Jumping, swimming etc. as above. PLEASE NOTE: The kayak & lilo activity starts half an hour after the time slot booked for as it takes time to have the briefing (see above), be kitted out etc.

Sunset Champagne Cruise

Waterfront Charters
Activity Type: Boat Cruises Location: V and A Waterfront, Cape Town, Western Cape

Our Most Popular Daily Scheduled Trip Cape Town has one of the best locations to see the Sunset from the Sea. With the Atlantic Ocean stretching away from the majestic Table Mountain range, this is certainly a ‘must do’ cruise for locals and tourists alike. Toast the setting sun from the deck of one of Waterfront Charters amazing range of vessels. A complimentary glass of local sparkling wine (two glasses per guest, or a bottle for a couple) will be served, and the bar will be open for all other drinks for the duration of the cruise. Toast to the setting sun once more! Kids are welcome, and have a special price option. Cape Town weather can change five times a day, so our route from the harbour is not always predictable; the two options below are merely a guide. But no matter which direction we take be assured of a spectacular cruise. SUNSET UNDER SAIL The sailboats Esperance and Serenity One follow the wind for this cruise. They do not offer a specific destination for this reason; you will be advised before departure as to the expected direction. The typical Cape Town summer wind blows from the south-east; the boats use the motors to leave the harbour and then they sail across Table Bay towards Milnerton lighthouse, returning to the protection of Granger Bay in the lee of Table Mountain to watch the sunset, and then motor back to the Waterfront. In the winter months with the northwester prevalent, the direction taken will be toward the Clifton Coastline, or the Robben Island Coastline, also returning to Granger Bay. The wind and sea conditions change daily so the routing and style of the trip also change to meet the conditions; the skipper and crew will give you the best possible adventure. SUNSET ON A MOTOR VESSEL The Motor Vessels Sea Princess and Southern Cross follow a different route to the sailing boats. As they are not dependant on the wind they offer a destination and normally cruise slowly along the Atlantic seaboard towards Clifton beach and then return. [/responsivevoice] VARIATION TO CRUISE (DUE TO WEATHER) For all the vessels, when the seas are running too high or the wind is unpleasantly strong, instead of heading into Table Bay the destination is the Cape Town Harbour for a Harbour Lights Cruise; a perfect alternative offering magical views of Table Mountain and the lights of Cape Town and the harbour in the evening. In extreme conditions, the skipper will take every aspect into account, and even stay dockside to ensure the safety of the passengers . * In the unlikely event that the primary boat for this cruise is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to utilize an alternative vessel for this experience. Be assured that Waterfront Charters will always make every possible effort to ensure that the advertised vessel is available. Some Cruises do not have a dedicated boat for the cruise and rely on a pool of available vessels at Waterfront Charters to cover fluctuations in weather, seasonal passenger numbers and planned maintenance.
