About Cape Point

Cape Point is situated in the Cape of Good Hope Nature serve, which forms part of Table Mountain National park and the Cape Floral region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cape Point is a mere 60km’s drive from Cape Town and covers nearly 800 ha of fauna and flora. Cape point is most famous for its dramatic view, variety of bird and wildlife and rich history.

First discovered by Bartolomeu Dias, it was aptly named the Cape of Storms and feared by many. Later it was navigated by Vasco Da Gama who successfully sailed further down the coast and thereby opening a new trading route between the Europe and the East. The point served as a landmark for sailors but was feared at the same time. In foggy conditions, the point could not be seen, and ships had to sail dangerously close to the rocks to obtain a sense of direction. This eventually led to the first lighthouse being built in 1859. Today, Cape Point is arguably one of the most well know and visited attractions in Cape Town if not South Africa.

Visitors can EXPERIENCE the natural beauty as well as fauna and flora of the reserve by EXPLORING one of the many activities that Cape point has to offer including: hiking, swimming, picnicking, birding, cycling, trail running or guided tours. Some of the best-known attractions in Cape Point includes:
